ARTLIFE FEST 2021
25.10.2021 - 31.10.2021
Press release
In 2021, ASKERI GALLERY presented the works of its artists for the first time at the international interactive contemporary art festival ARTLIFE.The concept of the festival this year was "The Path of a New Reality", and in accordance with it, the exposition was built at the ASKERI GALLERY stand.
Using the example of four authors, we showed how mobile and ambiguous the boundaries of genres, mediums and theoretical categories are in the new artistic reality.
So, the canvases of the young artist Masha Rudenko make you think about the mutual influence of painting and collage; amazing multi-layered works by Spanish artist Juan Miguel Palacios, made on sheets of transparent vinyl film, reveal the full depth of human emotions - from fear and despair to the tender sensuality of love - with the help of rough textures of drywall and dry plaster; and objects made of a mixture of different materials by the young Russian author Gleb Skubachevsky present an expression of the delicate balance of painting, sculpture and design in the modern artistic process.
At the same time, the artist Pavel Polanski points out his "path of a new reality" at the level of themes and meanings embedded in the paintings. His canvases are a skillful designer from a variety of references familiar to the modern viewer, they feature well-known robot dogs from Boston Dynamics, VR glasses and holograms. Many works are a skillful satire on the consumer society, which includes modern people.
A lecture hall for 500 listeners was open all days of ARTLIFE FEST. A rich educational program opened a lecture of the collector, journalist and founder of ASKERI GALLERY Polina Askeri - "What is contemporary art and how to love it". Polina Askeri told about the features of contemporary art, its genres, the main players, as well as ways to understand it.
