Huang Yulong
Huang Yulong, born in Anhui province of China, is a contemporary young sculptor, acclaimed by American magazine of Complex as «one of the twenty-five contemporary Chinese artists whom we have to know». His works, full of the tension of individuality and enlightenment, can always directly and exactly reflect typical forms of street culture and make perfect integration of traditional and contemporary elements, eastern and western aesthetics.
Born in the 1980s, he grew up under the traditional education of China and went through the reform and opening up with the entire country and nation. The transformation of his family of origin and rapid progress of the society marked on his growth with changing times. He grew up lonely with various restraints; therefore, the emergence of Hip-Hop culture unleashed his suppressed individuality, influencing his future attitude towards life and artistic creation.
Huang Yulong represents an outstanding contemporary writer with his own awareness,attitude and thinking ability whose works do not conform to the tranquility reflected in traditional Chinese culture, demonstrating the transformation of China’s international status, that is, from a country without any assistance to a nation with strongт competitiveness. Employing various medium and materials to create his works which are full of national confidence, internationalization and foresight , he is always on the way to explore his personality.
