‘Atlantis’ is a lost continent, an unattainable dream, a place and time beyond the laws and concepts, an unforgettable childhood…
All the toys of Daria Kotlyarova, artifacts, which often or sometimes come across us from the depths of memory, are from a personal artist’s ‘Atlantis’. Toys are dumb characters of past time, we remember them and want to get that reality back or try to forget it... We collect and carefully store them hoping to return the childhood that no longer exists.
Someone discovers ‘this country’ seeking for the fragments of forever-lost childhood, collecting them to keep the evidence of the precious time of the past. Or at least to go back for a while with toys that everyone has his own...
Daria Kotlyarova has been working with Askeri Gallery since its opening in 2016. A professional painter, graduated from Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute, the Russian Academy of Arts, Kotlyarova works with actual themes close to her own understanding of reality.
Daria Kotlyarova's works are in the collections of the Museum of Russian art TMORA (USA, Minneapolis), the Kaluga State Museum of Art, in private collections in Russia, Italy, USA, France, Serbia and Croatia. Kotlyarova is a participant of exhibitions of young artists In the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Central House of Artists, the Museum of Revolution, the I Moscow international Biennale of Young Art, Moscow International Art salon and others. Her work was presented at the charity auction of the Gracious Heart Foundation at Christie's office with the support of Askeri Gallery in March 2018, in London.
