Press release
On June 9, 2025, the grand opening of the new exhibition "IT ONLY HAPPENS TO EVERYONE" took place at the ASKERI GALLERY. The large-scale project brings together the works of five artists: Russian Anna Sladkova and South Korean multidisciplinary masters: Kwang Yong Chan, Jay Yong Kim, Eunha Lee and Seungjin Yang. The exhibition became a bridge between two cultures — Russian and South Korean, emphasizing how natural and fruitful intercultural cooperation can be. For the first time in Russia, the works of artists Seungjin Yang and Eunha Lee were presented, and one of the participants, Jay Yong Kim, personally flew to Moscow, making the evening especially bright and memorable thanks to his unique ceramic donuts.
The audience was immersed in the contemplation of paintings, ceramics, installations and sculptures filled with personal and collective memory. From the gentle, almost meditative images of Anna Sladkova to the bright doughnuts of Jay Yong Kim, from the philosophical forms of Kwan Yong Chan to the playful plastics of Seungjin Yang and the intellectual ceramics of Lee Yunha, each work has become a frank statement about finding oneself in a changing world.
"This exhibition is about meetings that seem to be accidental, but in the end turn out to be fateful. Art is a universal language capable of transcending any boundaries: geographical, cultural, linguistic. It is especially important today to build bridges between cultures, look for common ground, and be inspired by each other. We are glad that our gallery is becoming a space where just such a dialogue takes place — deep, lively, human. I am sure that this encounter with Korean art will leave the audience with a sense of belonging to the common world culture."
