Press release
On October 23, ASKERI GALLERY has opened the exhibition «Future Plans». As part of the joint project, new works by Russian artist Timur Gasumov will be presented, and for the first time in Russia, sculptures by Chinese master Huang Yulong will be exhibited.
Both artists, in their works, address the questions of searching for individuality, one's life path, and its correlation with the surrounding environment, societal expectations, and personal goals.
The St. Petersburg artist, a former civil aviation pilot, uses the image of an airplane in his works, which, in line with his creative vision, transforms from an innocent toy into a realistic model, and then into a full-fledged airplane soaring through the clear sky in search of life's ultimate goal.
The works of Chinese sculptor Huang Yulong are based on the universal image of the modern individual, living in an environment influenced by pop culture and globalization. A faceless, identity-less person in a hoodie becomes a symbol of the search for an inner voice and individual life mission, which can be shaped by entirely different ideas and cultural values.
The search for one's «self» in a world of global ideas becomes a key humanistic challenge, which both Gasumov and Yulong essentially propose to solve in the same way: to define one's own path and follow it without fear of pressure and obstacles, while nurturing inner strength and love.
The exhibition will be held with the support of developer OCTOBER GROUP, which will also present its unique project: the new KING & SONS clubhouse, inspired by oriental aesthetics. The building in the shape of an open fan is located on Mosfilmovskaya Street next to the Embassy of the People's Republic of China and the main building of Moscow State University.
"Such collaborations are designed to demonstrate a new level of vision of Eastern culture. Today it is not just about the friendship of peoples, but about the creation of a new format of exchange, both cultural and semantic. The organic mutual influence demonstrates the common values inherent in the two “worlds”. Our project, located on Mosfilmovskaya Street next to the Chinese Embassy and imbued with the special atmosphere of the embassy quarter, is an example of the synergy of modern architectural trends with the laconic visual aesthetics of the East, which organically fits the cultural code of the complex into the art event"
Yuri Kogan, Commercial Director of OCTOBER GROUP
