Press release

The new project by Gleb Skubachevsky is centered on his meditations on the origin and rise of a new form. This theme is one of the main topics of his work. Skubachevsky not only studies the process of the brith of form in art, but is also interested in the birth of an artwork per se.

Using his own technique, Gleb turns to ideas of some alien life. A life that can be prehistoric as well as extraterrestrial. The various outlines of elements that resemble tentacles, sprouts or corals, become the main material for Skubachevsky’s studies of spatial properties of form.

Every object on display puts the borders of art and artwork to the test. It is like the process of the brith of some new form was paused in time and space for a moment, showing the viewer its potential for growth. Gleb perceives these objects through a prism of his own mythology. This mythology proposes a look at art from the point of view of a biologist, who sees living organisms in his artworks. «I create models of ‘living’ objects, that are inspired by both macro- and micro-world. These works are more than paintings to me, and so I try to give them various properties such as levitation, for instance» - says the artist.

The objects on display show the theme of genesis from various perspectives: they may smoothly enter the surrounding space, hover in the air or grow out of the two-dimensional surface of canvas. The artist acts as a medium between two planets and it starts to seem, that another worlds actually exist.
