Press release
On September 18, the opening of the exhibition “INWARD TURN / LOOK INSIDE” took place at ASKERI GALLERY. Russian artist Masha Rudenko and the world-famous South Korean artist Kwan Yong Chan address the philosophical theme of searching for one’s own identity, gaining integrity and depth of perception in the modern world.
Both authors discuss the importance of forming one’s own “I” from the connection between the physical and the spiritual, the present and the past, modern and classical. Masha Rudenko creates art objects from pieces of colored paper, turning the process of working on a painting into getting to know oneself and working on internal conflicts. Kwan Yong Chan also works with paper: traditional Korean hanzhi in triangular bundles tells not only the personal story of the artist’s life, but also the history of his home country, whose rich culture became Kwan’s main inspiration.
