Press release
From October 26 to November 15, Moscow's contemporary art gallery ASKERI GALLERY will host an exhibition of Russian artist Tema Suylev - "MIA-21". An exhibition dedicated to one of the happiest events in everyone's life - the birth of a child.
The exhibition will feature a series of graphic works depicting a fantasy creature created simultaneously by man and nature. The work is inspired by 'beast-like robots' from the 1990s, which were a hit among boys' toys and were sold in every stall.
But at the centre of the new project is a sculpture: a two-metre-high snow-white hare that for centuries has symbolised light, the birth of joy and happiness in Russia.
The hare was conceived as a touching birthday present for the artist's daughter, Mia. The colour white is chosen for a reason: it is the highest point in the colour palette, reflects light and symbolises a ray of light itself. Thus, the present for Mia is not just a toy bunny, but the light that every parent wants to illuminate the way of life of their child.
The big rabbit, which seems to protect the child's sleep, is a symbol of love and parental tenderness, but it is also an important symbol of the future and of the year 2023.
The coming year 2023 is regarded as one of the happiest, because its symbol is a hare (rabbit), which promises peace and stability.
