ONE PLANET ONE FUTURE
23.06.2018 - 30.09.2018
Press release
One • One Planet One Future exhibition will take place inside the medieval Castel dell’Ovo, in the space called Sala delle Carceri (prison chambers), a 75 x 30 ft space with 22 ft high vaulted ceiling.
The photographs presented will cover the key themes of the project One Planet One Future: WATER, TRASH, ENDANGERED SPECIES AND CULTURES. The images will be displayed amongst light, sound and video installations resonating both with the themes of the project and the Castle itself.
Architect Cesare Mari could not hang anything on the walls of Castel dell’Ovo, a protected historic site. To fraction the space dynamically he used self supporting rotable panels to exhibit the very large prints and to create thematic areas which give the viewer different angles of approach whilst maintaining the grand volume of the space.
Light designer Giuseppe Mestrangelo will use the theatrical technique of Shaped Lighting to perfectly frame the images. The vaulted ceiling will be enhanced by a series of light spectrums inspired by the colours of the sea surrounding the castle.
Videos created with Anne de Carbuccia’s shoots on location will be projected inside ancient stairwells on gauze screens for an ephemeral and flowing effect.
Sound designer Nadine Schutz will create in the main space a natural wind-waves ambience, mixed with musical tracks emanating from the ancient stairwells. These tracks will be composed with melodic or rythmic ambient sounds gathered in the environment of the castle.
The exhibition will be opened on week days from 9 am to 7.30 pm (last entrance at 6.45 pm) and Sundays from 9 am to 2 pm (last entrance at 1.45 pm).
