Press release
Askeri Gallery presents a personal exhibition of Romain Froquet ‘Nature of magnetism’ in November 2018.
Romain Froquet is a French abstractionist. He has started his career from street-art. Later he has begun to create pictures, canvases and objects while continued working on murals.
This year within the project “Nature of magnetism” Froquet will show his graphic works - drawings on paper.
‘Drawing is the origin of my work. This is how i do my reserach and improve my gesture.
I love the contact between ink and paper. My movement is different (compare to my painting) but the energy and the intensity of my line is the same.’
‘Nature of magnetism’ is reflection about the energy flow in our world. Long before our era, people noticed that some stones attract metal objects. Subsequently many scientific discoveries explain why this is happening: a magnetic field exists due to a certain state of the smallest electrons. But, in fact, magnetism is not only about physics. Sometimes it is about more sensible phenomena: passion and attachement. Froquet embodies in calligraphic drawings the movement of atoms, the energy that holds everything in the world: from our smartphone and gravity to the mysterious feeling of love.
Romain Froquet comes to Russia for the third time. For the first time Moscow public saw Froquet’s artworks in Askeri Gallery in 2016 at his exhibition "Atoms". In the spring of 2017, supported by Askeri Gallery, the artist, for the first time in Russia, fully designed the Vesna Shopping Mall for Bosco Di Ciliegi. Romain Froquet actively participates in exhibition projects all around the world, creating murals in Miami, Houston, Paris, Marseilles and other cities.
