Press release
On September 17, the ASKERI GALLERY opened the RHYTHMS OF CHAOS exhibition, which brought together new works by three artists — Aurel K. Basedow, Timur Gasumov and Daniil Sobolev. Despite the difference in artistic languages, their work is united by the desire to transform the chaotic into energy and harmony. The project explores the theme of rhythm as a universal form connecting matter, space and emotion. This exhibition became especially significant for the audience also because the works of Aurel K. Bazedov were presented in Russia for the first time.
Aurel K. Basedow works with abstract compositions, turning chaotic overlapping of materials into transparent layered structures where every gesture and every pigment become part of a single rhythm. Timur Gasumov turns to the images of aviation, combining the romance of flight and children's admiration for the sky with the poetics of movement and aspiration. Daniil Sobolev explores the inner states of man, turning anxiety and expectation into naive, expressive images in his series "Aliens". Their artistic approaches are different, but they are united by attention to fragile, borderline states — to what is born out of chaos and shapes our perception and inner experience. The exhibition will run until October 25, 2025.
"Chaos lives in each of us — in thoughts, feelings, in the very matter of life. This exhibition shows how art is able to hear this chaos, give it shape and rhythm, and transform it into a language accessible to the viewer. The works of Basedow, Gasumov and Sobolev become three different intonations of one big conversation about a person and his inner world. Their works remind us that chaos can be not only destruction, but also a source of energy, inspiration and harmony. It is important to me that it is through art that we learn to perceive the chaotic as a part of life and discover beauty in it."
