Press release

On July 16, the exhibition "VISIBLE/INVISIBLE" opened at the ASKERI GALLERY, bringing together new works by young Russian artists Ksenia Sandesco and Gleb Baranov. Despite the difference in artistic languages, their work is united by the desire to explore the boundaries between reality and imagination, visible and hidden, surface and inner content. Ksenia Sandesco turns to theatrical staging, using the female body as a visual image of inner tension, an inexpressible feeling, a barely perceptible gaze. Gleb Baranov works with fictional characters, simulation, and autobiography, building entire worlds out of cultural images and personal memories. Their approaches are different, but they are united by attention to the fragile, unstable state — to what most often remains beyond the gaze, but forms our perception and inner experience. The exhibition project invites the viewer to slow down, take a closer look, tune in — and try to discover a new meaning, a new experience, and new horizons behind the visual surface. One of the halls of the gallery is traditionally dedicated to the works of Yuri Cooper, the most important artist of the modern Russian art scene. The ASKERI GALLERY space features new works created by the master specifically for the opening of the exhibition. "This exhibition is about what is hidden behind the surface, about what we feel, but cannot always express. The artists raise the most important topics — personal identity, memory, vulnerability, and they do it with incredible sincerity and visual precision. It is fundamentally important for me to give space to young authors who are sensitive to time and offer a new, deep look at reality. The exhibition "Visible/The invisible" is an invitation not just to look, but to peer, not just to perceive, but to empathize. Such projects return art to its main function — to be alive and to speak directly to a person." — Polina Askeri July 17, 2025 — September 12, 2025 MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO VISIT THE EXHIBITION: https://askeri-gallery.timepad.ru/event/2886222/ Age limit: 18+ Exhibition opening hours: MON—FRI from 11:00 to 19:00
