Press releaseBypassing all global barriers and difficulties this summer from July 16 to September 1, 2020, the ASKERI GALLERY opens its doors to visitors with an unprecedented project - the first joint exhibition of Russian realist artists, Pavel Polasnki and Daria Kotlyarova.
Modern life with all its contradictions and paradoxes is the main theme of the work of both artists. The Central theme of the exhibition will be immersion, which artists understand as the only remaining way to escape the absurdity of the modern world. The attempt to expose actual problems in the presented works becomes irrational: animals and people change their habitat, moving to the sea floor, however, and this does not help to escape from pressing issues left on land.
Light, rich and bright paintings presented at the exhibition are an ironic, soft attempt to reflect on the current problems of modern society.
"This exhibition is a very important and experimental project for ASKERI GALLERY. For the first time, we decided to combine two polar masters, but so close conceptually. The process of preparing the exhibition fell on a period of General isolation, so I am especially happy that the works of Daria and Pavel will be a significant end to this difficult time and will help us to immerse ourselves in a new exciting life." - comments the owner of the gallery, Polina Askeri.
Works from the series "IMMERSION" by Darya Kotlyarova and Pavel Polanski complement each other harmoniously, telling about an utopian underwater world, the characters of which involve the viewer in deep dialogues. A significant place in the exhibition is occupied by graphic works of the authors, among which there are both individual compositions and sketches for the presented paintings. Such an exposition solution is a meaningful curatorial move, the purpose of which is to demonstrate the richness and diversity of the graphic language. After all, as you know, it is the drawing that can reveal the level of professionalism and skill of the artist.
